PRENATAL CARE

I offer comprehensive prenatal care in my office where I will listen to the fetal heartbeat, perform laboratory tests, complete a urinalysis, take vital signs, and monitor fetal growth.  I schedule an hour for prenatal appointments to allow time for any questions that you may have as well as time to chat and get to know each other.

THE BIRTH

I come to your house when labor is established and you are ready for me to be there.  I will remain with you through active labor to at least 2 hours postpartum.  During labor I will provide support and monitor the wellbeing of mother and baby.  After the birth I will continue to monitor both you and the baby, make sure you have something to eat and drink, help you take a shower if you would like, clean-up, and even do a load of laundry.

SUPPLIES

Although I will bring most of the supplies we need for your birth,  I will ask you to provide a few items, which include things like towels, disposable protective bed pads, and a heating pad.

WATER BIRTHS

If you would like a waterbirth you may feel free to use your own bathtub or birth tub, or you may use one of my birth tubs.  My inflatable birth tubs are included in my fee.  I also have an AquaDoula tub, which is heated and will accommodate up to two people.  If you are using one of my tubs, you will need to purchase a liner for the tub.

POSTNATAL CARE

The first postnatal appointment takes place in your house approximately 24 hours after the birth so you and your new bundle of joy do not have to leave the comfort of your home.  Postpartum care continues with a telehealth visit on day three and then three more office visits over the first six weeks postpartum.

NEWBORN CARE

I provide well-baby care for the first six weeks of your baby’s life.  This care includes monitoring well-being, ensuring your baby is growing properly, and help with breastfeeding.  The newborn screen sometimes called the PKU test, and newborn hearing screens are available to all homebirth babies.

PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION

I have been trained in placenta encapsulation and offer this as an optional additional service to my clients for a small fee.  I also include a special blend of herbs with the placenta, designed to speed recovery, lessen bleeding, reduce cramping, aid with postpartum depression, and increase milk supply.  The blend of herbs used can be tailored specifically to you and your needs.
